Captain Robert Clauhs, (Bobby) as the Prime Surveyor, has been working in the Maritime Industry for 42 years, beginning when he boarded his first commercial vessel in New York Harbour at the young age of 17. He has sailed from his cadet days to a licensed deck officer on General Cargo vessels, Sea B vessels, container vessels, breakbulk/tween deck vessels, LASH vessels, black oil tankers, clean oil tankers, chemical/product tankers, and crude oil tankers. All the while traversing seas from the beautiful Mediterranean waters from the Straits of Gibraltar through the Suez Canal, Atlantic and Pacific with transits of the Panama Canal, All of the Great Lakes and the wonderful Saint Lawrence Seaway, Horn of Africa to Port Louis on the isle of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean.
Captain Clauhs worked extensively as a marine surveyor (Certified Marine Surveyor, National Association of Marine Surveyors) on heavy lift vessels, general cargo and container vessels, dry bulk carriers(geared and gearless), oil tankers, multi-product tankers, breakbulk vessels, Roll On/Roll Off (RO/RO) vessels, Pure Car/Truck Carrier (PCTC) vessels, ocean/inland tugs, offshore supply vessels, and ocean/inland barges. He has worked as a Port Captain for performing supervision of loading/discharging of thousands of pounds of IMO Class 1 Explosive cargo, IMO Class 7 Radioactive cargo, stowage plans, vessel stability calculations, cargo securing calculations, cargo bidding, documentation and vessel agency in foreign ports around the world.
Captain Clauhs has extensive international experience. He has made numerous treks to the Far East, Near East, Middle East, Africa, and Europe. He is capable and willing to globe trot whenever and wherever necessary. He has a well stamped U.S. Passport and a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) with the TSA-pre-check for all his jaunting about.
